Why are you selling ?
Founders can't dedicate the time to expanding the project to its true potential. We believe the type of product it is requires investment before it will turn a profit. We love the app and the idea but have been running it as a side-project alongside day jobs for 3 years and it's time for us to say goodbye to it. We'd love the project to continue under someone else's guidance and investment.
How can the future owner turn the project into a business ?
We believe the platform could be sold on a subscription basis to companies looking to create repositories of essential reading for staff / departments / groups.
As an example - many developers in companies like to share articles with other developers. Currently this is mostly done via a Slack message, an email, or some other means. This form of sharing doesn't have a great amount of richness of experience to it.
It would be great if there was a platform where each company employee had an account, where there were various lists of essential reading (that users could also add to on a perms basis i.e. MongoDB essential list), and could enable a user to highlight when other developers had read an article, and even comment on it, all for others to see.
This could extend to lists cross-company that users can subscribe to if the lists are published by respected groups etc.
